This is not true. Boxes or paper with Grease, oil, or food CAN be recycled as the small amount of grease or oil is minimal compared to how much cardboard is processed at one time.

I bet the workers there would have some stories to tell about the weird and wacky stuff that ends up on those conveyor belts.

Those plastic lids can still be opened by determined dumpster divers. Had it happen just last night. Both lids were full open with the lock bar locked and still in place. The hobos just pull and pry on the plastic lid until it flexes out of the way of the bar. About a month ago a hobo jumped on the lid until it fell into the bin. I would mind dumpster divers if they didn't leave a mess, but they always leave a mess.

Too bad you won't spend the money on some metal lids so they can't bend them and get around that bar. Or design the bar so that it doesn't have any give to it

basically they do this sorting and then send it abroad where it's all mixed up again and burnt or spread around because no one can find a use in these low quality materials

These can help bear-proof the dumpster. When not locked, the bear can lift the lid (partially) and get inside. When locked, it is harder for them to get leverage between the dumpster and the lid. However, the plastic lids are not completely bear proof. A 300 lb black bear in our mountain neighborhood will climb on top and bounce/rock/pound until one of the lids collapses. If you have bears, get the dumpster with the steel lid.

My bar lock is in the front

I worked at Homewood Disposal, it was hot 🥵 and very little pay 💰 and they make you work 6 days a week. I worked during Covid and they should have paid employees more since the place was so dirty and unhealthy. Big rats 🐀 walking around and dust everywhere. You definitely get a workout there they have you working 12 hours picking trash, and 1-2 hours extra mandatory overtime to cleanup. I worked from 3pm till 2am sometimes wouldn’t come home till like 4-5 in the morning and do it all again the next day. You can literally get a warning or a write up for grabbing garbage with one hand if you get tired after so many hours of working.

Do they use these at residential apartment buildings!!?? I sure as hell hope not!!! The top loader was bad enough to buy at least once the lid was open it was open!! This looks like a pain in the arse!!

So we have a bar too and the neighbors pull the top hard enough for it to be open to toss their trash. I am so annoyed. Any advice? The dumpster company I use said it is the only bar they offer. I use Rubicon in Dallas, TX.

Can you elaborate more on why ice cream carton can't be recycled? For eample you said due to special way it's built for freezer, suggesting perhaps it's shape, but it can be easily flattened.

This doesn't work at all, they just take the nut off the back bar, slide out the hinge bar and toss you're doors or you will loose you're doors on the next dump cause the trash man isn't going to get them out of his truck. Now you're stuck with a bigger problem. Re-do this video and fix the hinge issue as well.
